We had a good number of people at the track today, but the weather didn't want to play ball.
No, it didn't rain, but it was so windy that it was almost a hurricane. Standing still on the driver's stand became a challenge and the wind whipped up the dust and dirt from across the road, making it hard to even see the far side of the track at times. This does happen from time to time when the wind blows the wrong way for us.
The club is working on ways to reduce the dust pollution.
However it was still a good practice day for the early part of the morning, so bring on the Team Orion KROMA Cup, 17-19th of Feb 2012. |

Don't forget that this coming Sunday's race meet is a good time to get acquainted with the revised track layout for the upcoming KROMA Cup.
KROMA Cup entrants who want to pay the entry fees in person can do so on Sunday too.

Thanks to everybody who turned up at the track today to help out with some much needed maintenance work, you know who you are. The weather was getting really hot by the time we packed up, so it was lucky that we had enough people to do quite a lot of work.
We finally got round to repainting the whole drivers’ stand and re-profiled some parts of the track.
The dicey Turn 2 chicane(or is it Turn 10 now that we run the track in reverse?) has been removed, so now top speeds at the end of the main straight will be slightly higher. Much of the wooden perimeter fencing has also been replaced by flexible piping. Hopefully this will reduce damage to cars that decide to try and leave the track at high speed.
There is still some work to be done before we call it finished though. The Starting Grid will need to be repainted, and the track edges will have to be touched up with paint as well.
The date for the next Working Bee to complete the remaining works (hopefully a short and quick one!) will be announced later. |
